Cavaillon, the city of Luberon
Porte du Luberon, Cavaillon is located in Provence, 30 km from Avignon, 60 km from Marseille, with an exit on the A7 motorway, allowing quick access into the city center.
On 1 January 2015, it has 25 780 inhabitants. Cavaillon is primarily a city for all. Ideally located geographically it is attractive for both businesses and individuals.
Based on an exceptional site, along the Durance, at the foot of the Saint Jacques hill, it is a charming city where tourists are discovering a remarkable heritage disseminated through all neighborhoods.
St. Jacques hill, small piece detached from the Luberon, is a natural stronghold now considered the garden of Cavaillon. From its peak, the city offers a whole in a landscape shaped by man: the fields bordered by cypress and irrigated by multiple channels extend into the surrounding countryside dotted with farms and mills.
The St. Julien Canal, created in the 12th century, is an important element in the landscape. It spreads gradually from Mérindol, sprinkles Cavaillon and took it beyond the Coulon, north of the city, he crosses through an aqueduct from the 16th century.
The evocation of the terroir of Cavaillon would be incomplete without mentioning the Vignères hamlet integral part of the municipality where the Our Lady Chapel, built on the ruins of the Roman period, offers the charm of a rural chapel decor novel.
With 2 swimming pools, gyms 9, 8 nursery and elementary schools, four colleges, two schools, a library, a National Theatre, a music conservatory, a CCAS ... Cavaillon is a town where families can settle in peace.
